Save ConnectiCon

I'll post a report on San Diego pretty soon. It was tons of fun, and I can't wait to check it out again in the future. :)

What I did want to bring to your attention is that ConnectiCon is in danger. The people who organize the con, Matt Daigle and Brianna Benn, have accrued a serious debt from this year's Con (to the tune of $34,000). This was primarily because they needed to change the venue to the new Connecticut Convention Center, and were blindsided by additional expenses.

I have not had the fortune to go to Connecticon, but I've heard nothing but great things about it. It's not a big con like Wizard World or ComicCon — It's only been around for a few years. But I've heard it's one of the friendliest cons out there. Very relaxed and laid back atmosphere. It's also one of the few conventions that embraces the webcomic community as a whole…whether you're well established, or hardly known. It would be a travesty to lose a venue such as this.

Many webcomic creators have banded together to Save Connecticon. They are taking PayPal donations from anyone willing to help raise the money to cover Matt & Brianna's expenses. There will also be many pieces of original art up for auction from groups such as Mac Hall, AppleGeeks, Crtl+Alt+Del, and others. I'm going to try to sell some art of my own there as well. There will be at least one brand-new original piece of art, as well as an original Chibi Cheerleaders page.

At the very least, I urge you to go to the Save ConnectiCon website and donate…even if it's a dollar. It will help them out in a big way.

Thanks.
